Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Now usually, nothing beats the feel of a physical book in your hands, but the audiobook for Becoming is an exception. This is probably because Michelle Obama narrated her life story to me. It felt so intimate and personal. Michelle was honest and gracious as she bared her emotions and inner thoughts in her book. I smiled, I laughed, I cried with her as she told her story, opening up about her insecurities, her losses and her hopes. Allowing the reader to understand the source of her ambition and her achievements, Michelle’s story is nothing short of warm and open. I have learned so much from this book.

‘‘I am an ordinary person who found herself on an extraordinary journey’’ — Michelle Obama.

Highlights:
It evoked so much emotion within me in equal measure. I love how open she was about her insecurities, but never let it get the best of her, inspiring me to do the same.

Lowlights:
There was a part in the book where I felt the focus moved away from her to Barack for a little too long but I came to understand why later on: Barack’s power move in running to become president was not a small feat. It changed their entire world profoundly. But she was supportive irrespective of her own personal likes and dislikes and I love that about her

Life Lesson:
It’s the small risks you take that can lead to the biggest (and greatest) experiences and journeys in your life.
